Founded in 2019, TracTrac is tackling the long-standing challenges of high costs, limited financing, and weak supply chains that have hindered mechanisation for most farmers. According to the company, it is leveraging digital technology to make mechanisation more accessible to farmers

In a statement, TracTrac noted that “only 16 percent of smallholder farmers in Nigeria have access to mechanised equipment, despite agriculture being the backbone of the economy.” To address this gap, the company has developed TracTrac-Plus, a real-time booking system that connects farmers with mechanisation service providers, enables tracking of assets, mapping of farms, making payments, and aggregating service demand.

Ohuruogu Godson, Chief Executive Officer of TracTrac Mechanisation Services Limited, emphasised that “we equip farmers with the tools, knowledge, and financial solutions they need to succeed in a modern agricultural landscape.” He added that “we deliver mechanisation services and build a resilient ecosystem that empowers farmers for future generations through strategic partnerships and policy advocacy.”

TracTrac is also addressing the gender and youth gaps in mechanisation by supporting 50 percent of newly trained Mechanisation Service Providers (MSPs) who are women and young entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 to set up sustainable mechanisation businesses.

The company revealed that it engages policymakers and private investors to drive mechanisation growth, working with stakeholders such as the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, Women in Mechanisation Association, and the Nigeria Economic Summit Group to advocate for favourable policies
