Reports have confirmed that Manchester United defenders Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelöf left Old Trafford early during their Europa League quarter-final second leg clash against Lyon on Thursday night.

Manager Ruben Amorim explained that both players departed due to personal matters—Mazraoui at halftime, and Lindelöf shortly after.

“We had a problem with Nouss at half-time and Vic had a personal problem and he had to leave, so all this stuff happened during this game, but in the end it was a good game,” Amorim told TNT Sports.

Despite their absence, United pulled off an extraordinary turnaround to advance to the semi-finals with a 7-6 aggregate victory over the French side.

After building a 2-0 lead through goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot, Amorim’s squad found themselves trailing 4-2 and facing elimination during extra time.

However, Lyon were reduced to 10 men following Corentin Tolisso’s red card, which sparked United’s revival.

Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty, Kobbie Mainoo netted a curling effort into the corner, and Harry Maguire sealed the win with a dramatic late header keeping their European hopes alive.
