The ongoing disagreement between Bashir El-Rufai and his elder brother, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, appears to have taken another turn after Bashir issued a fresh threat against the lawmaker.

Bashir and Bello are sons of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

DAILY POST reports that Bashir used his X handle on Saturday to launch another attack on his elder brother, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In the post, Bashir accused Bello of abusing drugs, although the precise reason for the dispute between the brothers remains unclear.

The disagreement is believed to have possibly been influenced by Bello’s political decisions, particularly his activities and choices in Kaduna State.

In a subsequent post, Bashir made a direct threat against his elder brother, writing, “I will destroy you & climb my bed and sleep peacefully.”

The statement attracted concern from politician Uche Rochas, who responded by urging Bashir to reconsider his remarks and avoid making threats against a member of his own family.

Rochas warned that attempting to destroy his brother could also damage Bashir himself and further tarnish the reputation of their family.

He said, “If you destroy your brother, no one will see you as a hero. The more you try to destroy him, the more you destroy yourself and drag your family’s name through the mud.

“If you need someone to talk to, I am here,” he said in his reply to Bashir’s post.

Bashir responded to the politician’s intervention, saying, “Sorry sir. Had to be said.”

Another X user, Dr Ibrahim Yaji, also criticised Bashir over the threat, questioning how he could publicly target his own brother in such a manner.

Yaji said he had previously warned someone close to him that Bashir’s actions could ultimately work against him.

“I kept telling my friend earlier that the joke is on Bashir. I can never trust anybody who can do this to his own blood.

“Even if my sibling kills my child, I won’t destroy him like this. No, my parents didn’t bring us up this way,” he wrote.

Bashir, however, dismissed Yaji’s argument, responding, “That’s you o. And I’m sure you had a good brother.”

The latest exchange has further drawn attention to the public disagreement between the two brothers, with their dispute continuing to generate reactions across social media.
