Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, met with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national head of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), in Abuja on Friday. The meeting stoked rumors that Kwankwaso would rejoin the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following Jumaat prayers, the two powerful politicians were spotted meeting at a mosque in the capital of the country.
The Nation said that during the meeting, El-Rufai was joined by his oldest son, Hon. Bello El-Rufai.
The meeting takes place in the midst of mounting speculation that Kwankwaso and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have reached an agreement that could result in his and his supporters’ return to the APC.
The return of Kwankwaso, according to observers, might greatly increase Tinubu’s chances of winning reelection in the general elections of 2027.
