Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has praised his team’s performance, stating that they fully earned their 2-1 victory over long-time rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana.
The match, a semi-final clash in the Unity Cup held in London on Sunday, saw Nigeria take control in the opening half. Goals from Cyriel Dessers and Semi Ajayi gave the Super Eagles a commanding lead.
Ghana managed to pull one back in the second half through Thomas Asante but couldn’t find an equalizer.
Reflecting on the game, Chelle admitted that while fatigue set in during the second half, Nigeria’s overall performance warranted the win.
“We played a great first half, second half we were tired,” Eric Chelle said after the match.
“We deserved our victory, but we have to improve.”
The Super Eagles will now face Jamaica in the tournament final, scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London.
