Ibrahim Masari, a close associate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has stated that there is no reason for anyone who supported the president in the general elections of 2023 to feel bad about their choice.
Speaking to the BBC on Tinubu’s performance as his administration enters its second year in power, Masari, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, made the statement.
“Anyone who voted for President Tinubu between himself and God has no regrets,” he said.
He continued by saying that despite the current difficulty that many Nigerians are going through, President Tinubu has accomplished a lot, particularly in the areas of security and the economy.
Masari stated that the elimination of the fuel subsidy was one of the president’s key actions.
He did, however, defend it as a brave and essential choice that has allowed the government to invest in development initiatives and save money.
He stated that by eliminating the fuel subsidy, the president showed uncommon political bravery that no other president had been able to do.
“Past presidents wanted to do it but couldn’t. He did it because of how much of the country’s money was being wasted.”
Masari added that the money that was formerly used for gasoline and energy subsidies is now being used for vital national development projects, which will improve the efficiency of the federal and state governments.
Although he acknowledged the struggles that many Nigerians are facing, he maintained that President Tinubu’s choices are intended to create a better and more stable nation in the long term.
