US President Donald Trump has reignited his feud with Elon Musk, suggesting that he might consider deporting the billionaire to South Africa amid a dispute over a tax-and-spending bill. Trump stated that his administration may “take a look” at Musk’s immigration history, citing Musk’s brief tenure heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). “We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” Trump said. “DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. The feud escalated after Musk criticized the bill, warning it could raise the national debt by over $3 trillion in the next decade. Trump accused Musk of hypocrisy, stating, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far… No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.” Musk responded on social media, saying, “I am literally saying cut it all Now.”
Musk, a naturalized US citizen since 2002, has denied that his opposition to the bill is motivated by a desire to protect subsidies for his companies. Trump previously threatened to end government contracts and subsidies to Musk’s companies, which have received over $38 billion in government support. The dispute has sparked debate about free speech, the rights of naturalized citizens, and the role of business leaders in politics
