Singer Magixx has attributed the recent drop in the number of emerging stars in Nigeria’s music scene to the use of streaming farms.
He alleged that a significant portion of top positions on music charts and streaming platforms are being artificially secured, making it harder for new talents to gain visibility.
On his X account, he wrote, “Just so y’all know, the reason why we don’t have enough breakout artists these days is because almost every spot on Apple Music is bought!”
Allegations of artists using bots or automated tools to inflate streams for their songs and albums have continued to fuel debate within the music industry, even though some well-known figures have dismissed such claims.
In 2024, Magixx’s label boss and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, rejected accusations that he uses streaming farms to boost his artists’ numbers.
He insisted that such practices either don’t exist or are irrelevant to his operations, stating that he does not engage in them.
