The African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) 2023 gubernatorial candidates have all approved the party’s leadership change.
In a press conference given on their behalf by Engr. Terhemen Tilley-Gyado, the 2023 Benue State gubernatorial candidate, the former candidates urged their coalition allies to adhere to due procedure.
As important party stakeholders, the former candidates claimed that it was now vital to inform the Nigerian public about the latest ADC developments.
The former governorship contenders expressed gratitude to Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, the party’s former national chairman, for resigning from his post willingly.
They claimed that it was in accordance with the party’s constitution for Hon Nafiu Bala, the deputy national chairman, to serve in an acting role until a new chairman is chosen.
Since they maintain that no non-members will be permitted to occupy any position within the ADC, they feel that this will guarantee stability and continuity within the organization.
The past governorship candidates advised the coalition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Chibuike Amaechi, Peter Obi, David Mark, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Abubakar Malami SAN, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, to carefully follow due procedure.
They encouraged them to register as legitimate members of the ADC at the ward level and to complete the necessary actions, such as legally leaving their prior political groups.
“We welcome all constructive partnerships anchored on transparency, legality, and shared vision,” they added.
