The Katsina State Government has allocated ₦20 million to each local government area for the maintenance and rehabilitation of cemeteries.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda made this known on Thursday while addressing traditional rulers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates during their visit to the state capital.

He stated that the initiative is both a community service effort and a spiritual gesture to seek divine favor for the state.

“We have set aside ₦20 million for each local government to ensure our graveyards are well taken care of. This is part of our service to the people and also a way of seeking Allah’s blessings for Katsina,” Radda said.

Additionally, the governor announced a new welfare scheme targeting religious and traditional leaders.

He revealed that a newly enacted law would elevate the pay of all District Heads to at least Grade Level 16.

Radda also disclosed that 6,652 ward heads across Katsina will now be receiving monthly stipends, and more than 3,000 Imams and their deputies from Friday congregational mosques will be placed on allowances.

Mosque sweepers serving in Izala and Darika mosques across the 34 local councils are also included in the welfare plan.

“So far, over 1,500 of our young people have been trained and provided with tools to support security operations in the state. Security is a collective responsibility. We must unite to protect our people,” Radda explained.

Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina, who spoke on behalf of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, commended the governor’s efforts in enhancing development within the two emirates.
