Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has directed the immediate dismissal of four aides over their alleged involvement in the assault of a serving councillor.

The decision came after investigations were concluded into the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.

In a statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, disclosed that the order was conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following the submission of a report by a special committee established by the state government.

The statement noted that the committee’s findings, supported by intelligence from security agencies, informed the governor’s decision.

Those removed from office are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).

Governor Yahaya instructed that the sack should take immediate effect and ordered the affected aides to hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.

Misilli added that the governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward violence, misconduct, and abuse of office, stressing that such behaviour would not be accepted under any circumstance.
