The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence in how the people of Rivers State will cast their votes in the 2027 elections.

Wike stated that voters in the state would make their decisions not solely based on political party affiliations, but on unity and shared interests.

Speaking to residents of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, to express gratitude for their support, he indicated that Rivers State would vote in favor of President Bola Tinubu.

He emphasized that leaders are chosen to represent and act on behalf of the people, not to pursue personal agendas. He said, “Follow your leaders. Wherever they go, that is where we will go as well.”

Wike clarified that his visit was not intended as political campaigning, but as an opportunity to thank the people of Khana for their support of him and President Tinubu.

He commended the community for backing Tinubu during the 2023 elections, even when many others hesitated, noting that their support had led to tangible benefits such as improved roads, the establishment of the University of Environment, and other developmental projects, all facilitated by President Tinubu’s goodwill.

He added that Ogoniland has already received several key appointments and that more opportunities are expected in the near future.

The minister also remarked, “People in Rivers State will now vote based on unity and shared interest, not just political parties, to help develop the state under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Earlier, the lawmaker representing Khana, Rep. Dumnamene Dekor (APC), praised Wike and President Tinubu for bringing development and positive attention to Ogoniland. Dekor said the people of Khana were proud to support Wike and were ready to follow his leadership wherever it led, adding that Rivers State lawmakers had given their full backing to President Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of women in the area, Mrs. Barile Nwakoh, an APC member representing Khana 1 State Constituency, thanked Wike for remembering the community and its people. She noted that Wike continues to enjoy strong support in Rivers State due to his integrity, goodwill, and care for the populace.

She further stated that women in Khana are prepared to support President Tinubu should he seek a second term.

“We are ready to work for President Tinubu. Please let him know that we stand with him,” she said.

In the same vein, the Chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Dr Thomas Bariere, thanked Wike for always supporting the people of the area.

He said that when capable leaders are in office, development follows.

“Since we supported President Tinubu, life has improved for the people of Khana,” he said.

Bariere assured Wike of the continued support of the people of Khana Local Government Area.
