In the area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in five out of six contested chairmanship positions.
Joshua Ishaku, the APC candidate, secured the chairmanship position in the Bwari Area Council with 18,466 votes.
Chris Garki from the APC also secured the chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Kasim Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party emerged victorious in the Gwagwalada Area Council.
Also, the APC candidates Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, Nuhu Daniel Kwali, and Abdullahi Umar Abubakar were victorious in the chairmanship elections for the Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji area councils.
Only the Gwagwalada Area Council was won by the opposition PDP in the elections, which confirmed APC’s dominance in the FCT.
