Muslim Rights Concern has declared that it is the turn of a Muslim to succeed the incumbent governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
The association noted that this was necessary in order to ensure equity, fairness and justice among adherents of the two major religions in the state.
MURIC made the declaration in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola.
The statement was made available to ZINGTIE on Tuesday morning.
Akintola said that Makinde, a Christian, having spent eight years in office, it was now the turn of a Muslim to succeed him.
He said, “It is turn by turn. Seyi Makinde, a Christian governor, has spent eight years in office.
”We have a convention. If a Muslim spends eight years in office, a Christian should succeed him. It is so vice versa.
“Why does Makinde want to change that unwritten protocol? It is the turn of the Muslims. Makinde should not ignite a religious crisis in Oyo State”.
