Grammy Award-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up on why she does not consider Nigerian male celebrities as potential romantic partners.

The singer made the revelation during an interview at the BET Awards over the weekend after being asked whether she would make a move on Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who has recently attracted attention for his appearance.

Reacting to the question, Tems stated that although she is familiar with Okoye, they do not have a personal relationship.

The award-winning artiste explained that sharing the same Nigerian entertainment and celebrity space makes it difficult for her to view male Nigerian stars romantically.

According to the ‘Love Me Jeje’ singer, she has no interest in pursuing romantic relationships with fellow Nigerian celebrities because she regards them as family members.

She said, “I know who Maduka Okoye is but I don’t know him personally. I wish I did though. But shooting shots at him, we don’t do that over here.

“We [Nigerian celebrities] friend each others and we are family. I see my male colleagues as brothers.”

Her comments have since generated conversations among fans, with many discussing her views on relationships within the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Tems remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated music stars, having earned international recognition and multiple awards for her contributions to the global music scene.
