The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has explained the reason behind his recent visit to Senator Rufai Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a prominent associate of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Yilwatda disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday after making a courtesy visit to the senator.
According to him, the engagement centred on matters concerning Kano State and the need for political leaders to collaborate irrespective of party affiliations.
“Our discussions were cordial and focused on the unity, peace, stability, and future of Kano State.”
The APC national chairman stressed that political differences should not prevent leaders from joining hands to advance the interests of the people.
He further stated that the country stands to benefit more when leaders embrace cooperation rather than engage in partisan conflicts.
“Nigeria’s progress is best served when we build bridges of understanding, encourage constructive dialogue, and place the welfare of citizens above partisan considerations.”
The visit comes amid reports of a strained relationship between Senator Hanga and Kwankwaso following a series of remarks made by the lawmaker.
Hanga has reportedly remained dissatisfied after losing his party ticket to Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
He also alleged that Kwankwaso considered handing the Kano governorship ticket to his son, Mustapha Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
