The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to kill her husband by adding poison to his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

According to the command, the suspect, who got married about 40 days ago, allegedly put a poisonous substance in her husband’s meal on August 12, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said officers received a distress call at about 7:40 p.m. from an unidentified woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi, leading personnel from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, to move to the scene.

The victim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he remains under medical care and is said to be in stable condition.

Habib disclosed that the suspect was apprehended shortly after the alleged incident and reportedly admitted to the offence during questioning.

He further stated that detectives recovered an empty bottle believed to have contained the suspected poison, alongside portions of the affected meal, which were taken into custody as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the police spokesman stated.

The command restated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while advising residents to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
