Gabriel Martinelli has raised eyebrows with his farewell message to Arsenal following his move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

The Brazilian winger completed a record £60 million transfer to the Saudi Arabian club, with the deal officially announced on Thursday.

Martinelli’s departure from the Emirates reportedly came after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta opted for Christos Tzolis and Ebere Eze as preferred options on the left side of the attack.

In a farewell post shared on social media, the 25-year-old thanked several members of the Arsenal community, including security personnel, the media team, physiotherapists and doormen.

However, Martinelli made no reference to Arteta in the message and did not include any photograph of the Spanish manager.

Martinelli wrote: “I can only thank the staff and my teammates. Thank you to the chefs, kit staff, doctors, doormen, security staff, media team, cleaning staff, physios and every single teammate who has been part of my story from 2019 until today.

“And to the fans, thank you for everything. Since my first day, you made me feel at home. Every time I stepped on the pitch, despite everything, I tried to give everything I had for this shirt. To Arsenal, thank you for believing in me and giving me the chance to show myself to the world.”
