Manchester City have stepped up their pursuit of Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini as they look to bring her in from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Women’s Super League champions have already had multiple bids for the Nigeria international turned down by the French club.

According to Guardian Sport women’s football correspondent Tom Garry, City remain keen to complete a deal for Echegini before the WSL transfer window shuts tonight.

PSG, however, are unwilling to easily let go of the 25-year-old, who still has 12 months remaining on her current contract.

Echegini has established herself as an important player for the Paris-based club since arriving in 2024.

The midfielder also has previous experience of English football, having featured in the youth setups of Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Arsenal.

She moved to PSG following a season at Juventus, where she enjoyed a productive spell, registering 10 goals in 16 appearances.
