Afrobeats superstar Davido has continued to receive criticism following his confrontation with rapper Erigga over comments concerning family wealth.

Erigga, in a post shared on X on Wednesday, recognised and celebrated musicians who built successful careers without relying on family money.

Erigga wrote on X, “Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and have to grind for every single dollar they earn.”

Davido, who was born into a wealthy family, responded to the post by challenging Erigga’s remarks while defending artistes who grew up with financial privilege.

Mocking Erigga’s family background, Davido wrote in Pidgin English, “No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top. Comot here with that your useless motivation. Imbecile.”

Following the exchange, several social media users reacted to Davido’s response, with many accusing the singer of displaying low self-esteem and an inferiority complex.
