The Katsina Elders’ Forum (KEF) announced their intention not to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election should he proceed with the federal government’s decision to relocate the corporate headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from Abuja to Lagos.

After a meeting behind closed doors in Abuja, Aliyu Mohammed, the Katsina Elders’ Forum Secretary, communicated that those who are advising President Tinubu to carry out these relocations need to do better for Nigeria.

According to the report by POSTREPORTERS, he said, “Such a person is not interested in the Nigerian project. And the North is not afraid of telling Tinubu to his face that we are not ready to re-elect him in 2027 once he starts moving all these critical departments to Lagos.”

The public’s reactions to the decision to relocate the corporate headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and a few departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos have been mixed. While some Northerners have expressed opposition to the move, others contend that it is acceptable as long as it is in the system’s best interests.
