Despite increased condemnation from Democratic leaders regarding the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged Palestinian enclave, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed US Republican senators that Israel will not end its war in Gaza.

According to the lawmakers Netanyahu addressed during his video connection talk to Republican senators, his government will keep up its efforts to destroy Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“He’s going to do what he said he’s going to do. He’s going to finish it,” Senator Jim Risch said.

The prime minister was referred to as an “obstacle to peace” in the region by Senate Democratic majority leader and Jewish American Senator Chuck Schumer during last week’s Senate speech, which preceded Netanyahu’s speech.

Due to his government’s “dangerous and inflammatory policies,” particularly about delivering aid to Gaza, Schumer said Netanyahu was no longer fit to lead Israel. This comes as pressure within the Democratic Party grows for the US to stop providing Israel with unconditional political and military support.

Nonetheless, Netanyahu continues to have support in Republican circles.
