Nnamdi Ibekwe, who was elected to the Abia State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has resigned from the party.
In a letter to PDP Igbere Ward A Chairman Eme Onyekazi, Ibekwe, who represents the Bende North seat, submitted his resignation.
He cited internal PDP crises as the cause of his resignation.
There are unsubstantiated rumors that he might join the Labour Party, LP, even though he has not disclosed which party he will be joining next.
Lilly Ujunwa Janny, the PDP Women Leader for Bende LGA and a vocal opponent of Governor Alex Otti, visited the governor to express her commitment to his administration.
In a shocking change of events, Chima Anyaso, the Young Progressive Party’s (YPP) 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate, escorted the PDP Women Leader to Otti.
A few days after the PDP’s Abia North zonal stakeholders’ meeting in Abriba, Ohafia LGA, when the party pledged to regain power in 2027, Ibekwe resigned, and Ujunwa traveled to Otti.
In response to the PDP Women leader’s visit, Eric Ikwuagwu, the party’s publicity secretary in Abia, stated that she had not submitted a letter of resignation.
