Emmanuel Ndubuisi, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Bende South constituency, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated June 23, which was addressed to the PDP leadership at the state, zonal, and local government levels in Abia.

Ndubuisi, who is serving his second term as a lawmaker, cited ongoing internal conflicts within the party as his reason for leaving. He stated that after careful consultation with his family and close associates, he made the decision to step away from the PDP.

“This decision is due to the prolonged worsening crisis within the party at multiple levels—Nationally, Zonally and at the State level which has made it difficult for me to continue to function effectively under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party,” the Bende South representative explained.

Despite parting ways with the party, Ndubuisi assured his constituents that his commitment to their welfare remains firm.

Although he did not mention his next political affiliation in the letter, sources close to the lawmaker suggest he may be aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the current ruling party at the national level.

Notably, Bende is also home to prominent political figures such as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Ndubuisi’s exit comes just two months after another lawmaker from the area, Nnamdi Ibekwe of Bende North constituency, also left the PDP to join the Labour Party.
