Abubakar Sadiq, aged 40, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command as the main suspect in the killing of his elder brother, businessman Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga.
According to the command, operatives tracked the suspect, a resident of Boga Village in Gombi Local Government Area, based on an intelligence report from officers at the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters.
On Wednesday, police reported that Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga was murdered on January 20, 2026, and during questioning, Abubakar Sadiq admitted to being involved in the murder along with five other accomplices.
The suspect is said to have directed security personnel to find an AK-47 rifle thought to have been used in the attack, according to a press statement from Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer.
Nguroje stated that the main suspect subsequently directed investigators to two purported accomplices, Jalo Hamiyu, aged 35, and Umar Baba, aged 41, who are both residents of Fotta Village in Gombi LGA.
“A joint security team comprising police operatives, hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force reportedly moved to arrest the duo on the same day,” Nguroje disclosed.
He mentioned that the suspects shot at the operatives in a bid to avoid capture, leading to a gunfight in which the two men were neutralised.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network who are currently at large,” Nguroje said.
