According to the ZINGTIE, Sunday Oliseh, the former head coach of the Super Eagles, has cautioned the team to perform at their peak when they take on South Africa.
On Wednesday, the Bafana Bafana and Jose Peseiro’s team will play an AFCON semi-final match at the Stade de la Paix.
The South Africans, according to Oliseh, are a formidable counterattacking force.
In addition, the former midfield player advised the Super Eagles on how to avoid letting the match go to a penalty shootout.
“South Africa are compact and dangerous when they go forward,” Oliseh said on a Channels TV programme.
“When they go forward, they can hurt us.
“And we should not allow the game to go to a penalty shootout because of the aura around the heroics of the goalkeeper.
“He saved four penalties and the Super Eagles must have watched that.”
The last time South Africa and Nigeria faced each other was during the 2000 AFCON, which Nigeria and Ghana co-hosted.
Tijani Babangida scored two goals to lead the Super Eagles to a 2-0 victory in the semi-final match.
