AFCON 2023: Peseiro to ring changes for Cote d’Ivoire clash

According to ZINGTIE, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is anticipated to make changes to his starting lineup for the team’s Group A encounter against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

Alhassan Yusuf, who is injured, is anticipated to be replaced in midfield by Joe Aribo of Southampton.

Yusuf, a player for Belgian Pro League winners Royal Antwerp, is unable to play in the clash against the Elephants after suffering a thigh injury in Nigeria’s opening match against Equatorial Guinea.

Peseiro may potentially make other changes in the midfield after observing Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City’s excellent performance in practice.

Iheanacho, who had recovered from a muscular ailment, was added to the squad the night before the match against Equatorial Guinea.

As a substitute for Alex Iwobi against Jean Louis Gasset’s team, the 27-year-old could play.

Moses Simon, the winger, struggled against Equatorial Guinea as well and might be benched for the match against Cote d’Ivoire.

On Thursday, the match will take place at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
