In their second match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles will be ready to combat against hosts Cote d’Ivoire, according to Atlanta winger Ademola Lookman.
On Thursday, at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, Jose Peseiro’s team will play the Elephants.
In their first game, the Super Eagles held the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 tie.
To increase their prospects of moving on to the next round, the three-time winners must avoid losing to the Elephants.
Lookman believes the Super Eagles will win even though Jean Louis Gasset’s team will be challenging to beat.
“It’s going to be a tough game, but I want to say we are ready for the fight. It’s never easy to play against the hosts in a competition like this,” Lookman told ZINGTIE in an exclusive chat in Abidjan.
“It’s a game we can’t afford to lose, and we will give our best to make our fans happy.
“Ivory Coast have a strong squad like us, but we are ready for the battle and will make sure we win the game.”
The encounter will kick at 6:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
