Victor Osimhen, a striker with the Super Eagles, offered his opinion on Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea’s refereeing during Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final loss to Morocco on Wednesday.
After Morocco defeated Nigeria 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw, Osimhen called Laryea’s officiating “bad.”
“The game was nothing to write home about in terms of the officiating; it was that bad,” the attacker for Galatasaray stated during his pre-game interview at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
“I have to say a very big congratulations to the Moroccans, and also I am proud of my team for the kind of fight we put up against a very good quality side,” he said.
In the AFCON third-place final on Saturday, Osimhen will now try to guide Nigeria to victory over Egypt.
Bright Osayi-Samuel, Osimhen’s Super Eagles colleague, had criticized Laryea for officiating the match.
However, Patrick Yaw Boamah, a member of the Ghanaian Parliament, commended Laryea for his “outstanding officiating.”
