A legislative consultant and public policy analyst, Chibuzo Okereke, has said the real ambition of Seyi Makinde is not the presidency but building political momentum.
Okereke made the claim on Friday while responding to questions during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.
According to him, Makinde is currently facing heavy political pressure.
He added that following the 2023 elections, the Peoples Democratic Party lost all senatorial seats in Oyo State but managed to retain the governorship position.
Okereke pointed out that the development came after the G5 arrangement that contributed to the emergence of President Bola Tinubu.
“Well, I think first of all, it is within his democratic right to seek for the office of the presidency. I mean, the qualifying credentials are there.
“But I think that strategically speaking, he is mobilizing support to ensure there is momentum for a successor.
“If you look at this, it appears to be a strategic political hedging for him. I don’t really think that his push is more about himself getting to the presidency,” he said.
