Residents of Chito town in Adzendeshi Council Ward, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, were thrown into panic on Saturday after a violent assault by armed men during the early morning hours.
The assailants, reportedly numbering more than ten, invaded the Tse-Mamkaa Compound at approximately 2:26 a.m., terrorizing the community for nearly ninety minutes.
During the raid, the attackers physically assaulted members of the household, searched through homes, and stole various personal and household items. Among the looted goods were clothing, shoes, foodstuffs, and kitchen essentials down to everyday items like salt, seasoning, and flour.
Dr. Isaac H. Mamkaa, a political science lecturer at the College of Education in Katsina-Ala, confirmed in a written report to authorities that two relatives, Timothy T. Mamkaa and the family patriarch, Nathaniel Mwuesega Mamkaa, suffered injuries during the incident.
He added that the home of their grandfather, Kur Sev Adudu, was also targeted during the attack.
Of particular concern, Dr. Mamkaa revealed that the intruders issued a chilling warning, threatening to return with even greater violence.
“In view of the above… I appeal for your timely response and/or proactive action to avert the impending/looming calamity,” he pleaded in his letter to the authorities.
As of the time this report was compiled, there had been no official response from security forces, and no arrests had been made.
