Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has issued a stern warning to its new students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a high level of discipline and responsibility throughout their time at the institution.

At the 18th matriculation ceremony, which took place on Friday at the school auditorium, Vice Chancellor Prof. Omolola Irinoye cautioned the 1,133 new students against engaging in social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, and sexual harassment.

“The university has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and any form of social misconduct,” Irinoye said.

“It is no news that Achievers University upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, discipline, and ethical conduct. We expect you to demonstrate diligence in your studies, respect for university regulations, and a commitment to personal and professional development.”

“Students caught engaging in any of these vices run the risk of expulsion from the university.”

The Vice Chancellor also stressed the importance of attending classes, noting that lateness or failure to attend classes would attract severe punishment. “We take attendance at lectures very seriously, and failure to meet 75% attendance is automatic carryover or repeat of the session as applicable,” she warned.

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Bode Ayorinde echoed Irinoye’s sentiments, reiterating the university’s zero-tolerance policy for social vices and indiscipline. “We have zero tolerance for violence in any form, including fighting, bullying, harassment, and the use of hard drugs,” Ayorinde said. “Any student caught in any of these vices faces the risk of expulsion from the university, and such students will be handed over to the police for prosecution.
