Bauchi: What Happened After Two Separate Disputes Turned Deadly

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged culpable homicide in Bauchi metropolis and Kirfi, as well as alleged criminal conspiracy and foeticide in Ningi Local Government Area.

The command disclosed that the arrests followed separate incidents reported between Thursday and Friday across the affected areas.

In Bauchi metropolis, police arrested 19-year-old Abubakar Hudu following a fight involving Hassan Adamu at Gida Dubu, Bauchi.

According to the police, the two men had a disagreement at about 5:15pm on Thursday, which later escalated into a physical confrontation.

The command said Adamu was separated from Hudu and subsequently left the scene, but later collapsed and became unconscious.

He was taken to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead.

Police detectives attached to the ‘C’ Division reportedly visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital before tracing and arresting Hudu.

In another incident in Kirfi, 22-year-old Audu Babangida was arrested over the alleged killing of 25-year-old Haruna Bala during a dispute over farmland.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night at Kafin Sarkin Yaki village.

The police said the disagreement between the two men became violent, with Babangida allegedly stabbing Bala in the neck with a knife.

Bala was rushed to the General Hospital, Kirfi, where he was confirmed dead.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene after the incident but was arrested at about 11am on Friday at River Kafin Iya while reportedly attempting to cross into Gombe State.

The police also said the knife allegedly used during the attack was recovered.

Meanwhile, two other suspects, Aminu Jibrin and Salihu Mohammed, were arrested in Ningi over alleged criminal conspiracy and foeticide.

According to the command, the duo allegedly conspired to administer substances to 22-year-old Hauwa’u Yakubu, which resulted in the termination of her pregnancy.

Jibrin is from Burra District, while 25-year-old Mohammed operates a chemist shop at Sabuwar Tiffi, Ningi.

Their arrest followed information allegedly supplied by a human rights activist in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, ordered that the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for further investigation and prosecution.

The CP also cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, urging them to report disputes and suspected criminal activities to the police rather than resorting to jungle justice.
