Francis Ottah Agbo, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended the Ado Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Sunny Oche, and the 10 council members on their recent success in the Court of Appeal in Abuja. However, he issued a sobering plea to concentrate on addressing insecurity rather than celebrating.

Ottah Agbo, the representative for Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, said in a statement released on Saturday that the court’s decision was a win for democracy and the long-suffering people of Benue State.

He expressed gratitude to the judiciary for maintaining the integrity of the voting booth, saying, “Today’s verdict is not just a win for the Governor, the APC, or the Council officials, it is a triumph for the people of Benue.”

The former lawmaker urged against public celebration, stressing the ongoing terrorist attacks on communities throughout the state, while praising council officials in each of the state’s 23 local government regions.

“This is not a time for celebration. Our brothers, sisters, and parents are still being murdered in cold blood by terrorists in parts of Benue. In their honour, let us be sober, focused, and compassionate in leadership,” he said.

Governor Hyacinth Alia was commended by Ottah Agbo for assembling a formidable legal team that secured a favorable decision in the appellate court.

In order to bring peace and stability back to the state, he asked the recently confirmed council leaders to get their hands dirty and collaborate closely with the governor and security forces.

“Now that the legal dust has settled, it is time to collaborate across all levels to stamp out insecurity and deliver governance that truly liberates the masses,” he added.

The former congressman also urged the council’s winners to show generosity by reaching out to their resentful rivals in an effort to promote harmony and reconciliation.
