The debut album ‘Rave & Roses’ by Nigerian artist Rema has concluded its run as the African album with the longest duration on the Billboard World Albums Chart, achieving a remarkable 170 weeks on the chart.
Last year, Rave Roses surpassed the record previously held by Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ (164 weeks).
Other African projects that have also charted for an extended duration include Tems’ ‘Born In The Wild’ (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ (63 weeks), and the iconic Fela’s ‘The Best Of The Black President’ (45 weeks).
This week, Rema made his second entry into the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Secondhand’ alongside Don Toliver, which debuted at number 29.
Tems, his fellow countrywoman, also made her debut on the Hot 100 this week with the new track “What You Need,” bringing her total to seven—tying with Burna Boy and South African group Seether for the record among Africans.
