Borno: Military Operation Delivers Major Blow to Terrorists as New Details Emerge

At least 40 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have reportedly been killed in a precision airstrike conducted by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force, North-East, under Operation HADIN KAI.

The operation was disclosed on Monday by the task force’s Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, in an official statement.

According to the statement, the strike targeted a terrorist hideout in Badu Village, south of Gudumbali, in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State, during the weekend.

Goni explained that the mission was launched after security operatives received credible intelligence indicating that ISWAP fighters had assembled to plan coordinated attacks against troops operating within Sector 3’s area of responsibility.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Air Component conducted targeted aerial surveillance, identified terrorist movements around suspected hideouts and logistics facilities, and subsequently executed a precision strike on a building occupied by the terrorists,” the statement said.

The task force spokesperson revealed that a senior ISWAP commander was among those killed in the airstrike.

He further stated that the operation destroyed two vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles allegedly used by the fighters for movement, logistics and offensive missions.

According to Goni, the successful strike dealt a significant blow to the group’s operational strength and disrupted its plans to launch attacks on military positions and nearby communities.
