Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have reportedly overrun a Lakurawa terrorist camp in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing several suspected terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.

The military operation was carried out on October 15, 2026, as part of ongoing clearance operations targeting terrorist groups in the region.

In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed that troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight and overwhelmed them with superior firepower.

He said the pressure forced the armed group to abandon its positions and retreat further into the forest.

“Troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists, neutralising some of them in the process. Further exploitation of the area led to the destruction of the terrorists’ camps and all life-support structures, as well as the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles,” the statement said.

According to the military, the Theatre Command praised the troops for their bravery, determination and continued commitment to the ongoing operations.

The command also appealed to residents to support security efforts by providing reliable and timely intelligence on suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
