Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, has refuted rumors that he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a recently established opposition coalition party, claiming that the claims are untrue and misleading.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Monday by Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the governor’s chief press secretary and special adviser on media.

Oyebode added that the news, which was disseminated by anonymous sources, made a false allegation that former Governor Kayode Fayemi was escorting Governor Oyebanji and a few other officials into ADC.

“For clarity, Governor Oyebanji and all public office holders mentioned remain firmly committed to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and have no link with the ADC,” Oyebode said.

The governor has continuously been a part of Ekiti State’s progressive political movement since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1999, according to the Chief Press Secretary.

He claimed that some people were attempting to cause friction between the governor and President Bola Tinubu by taking advantage of the governor’s friendship with Fayemi.

“Unfortunately for these mischief makers, President Tinubu is a strategic leader who can see through their agenda and antics,” he explained.

The governor’s media assistant urged the people of the state to disregard what he called a juvenile media assault purportedly planned by desperate politicians vying for the governorship.

“Now that INEC has announced the primary election date, let them be brave enough to present their ambitions to APC members,” Oyebode added.
