Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has officially commenced his second term in office following his inauguration on Friday.
Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, were sworn in at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where they took their oaths of allegiance and office.
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, administered the oaths to both officials.
The inauguration ushers in another four years for the governor and his deputy after their victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
During the ceremony, Oyebanji pledged to consolidate the achievements recorded during his first tenure and improve residents’ welfare through policies designed to deliver greater benefits to the people.
The event attracted prominent political figures and government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who attended on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
ZINGTIE reports that Shettima arrived in Ado-Ekiti on Friday ahead of the inauguration and was welcomed at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Governor Oyebanji and other dignitaries.
Governors from Kwara, Imo, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo and Jigawa states also attended the ceremony, alongside the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda.
