Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, punished three commissioners for failing to show up for meeting of the State Executive Council.

Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies) are the commissioners that are affected.

This was revealed by Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, during a press conference on the executive council meeting’s conclusion on Tuesday.

He stated that the commissioners’ inability to obtain authorization before missing the important government meeting was the reason for the one-month suspension.

According to reports, Governor Nwifuru emphasized the value of discipline and dedication within his government by issuing a strong warning against public personnel’ absenteeism and careless attitude toward their work.

Additionally, the governor ordered that the suspended commissioners be deprived of any office-related benefits for the term of the suspension.

Nwifuru also gave contractors in charge of state government projects instructions to expedite their work in compliance with their contracts. He cautioned that in order to guarantee adherence to project schedules and standards, the government would not think twice about using all available legal options.
