The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a five-day warning strike set to begin on Friday, September 12, 2025, in a move to push forward their unresolved demands.
This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by Agbor Affiong, General Secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
The strike action was agreed upon during an emergency virtual National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Wednesday, which lasted into the early hours of Thursday, September 11.
“Arising from the NARD E-NEC meeting held on Wednesday, the 10th of September, 2025, which extended into the early hours of Thursday, the 11th of September, 2025, the NEC members unanimously resolved to embark on a five-day warning strike.
“The strike will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 12th September 2025, and will end on Tuesday, 16th September 2025.
“All centres are hereby directed to duly inform their hospital managements and continue to press home our collective demands,” the statement reads.
Earlier in the week, NARD President Osundara Zenith revealed that members were preparing to halt operations across government hospitals, citing various grievances. These include poor infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply, certificate devaluation, insufficient wages, and other welfare-related issues.
It is also worth noting that the FCT branch of the association has been observing its own seven-day warning strike, which commenced on Monday of the same week.
