The accomplishments of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have received praise from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to Tinubu, these achievements have produced political benefits for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held elections in the six area councils of the FCT, along with by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
The APC, which is in power, performed well, securing victories in the majority of available positions.
In a statement on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, who serves as Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that the President extended his congratulations to the election winners.
The President praised INEC, security agencies, and other stakeholders involved in the electoral process for their involvement and behavior, which contributed to the exercise’s success.
The winners were urged by the President to serve with “humility, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust.”
President Tinubu praised the FCT Minister, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, for his accomplishments in the territory, noting that these achievements provided political benefits to the APC.
According to Onanuga, “President Tinubu commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The President congratulates the APC national leadership, Kano and Rivers leaderships, and all members of the party on the victories at the polls.
“President Tinubu lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.
“He further commends the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.”
While stating that effectively carrying out the elections bolsters democratic culture and institutions, President Tinubu urged “INEC to continue improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.”
