The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the council’s Director-General, as fraudulent.
The committee’s Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, made the declaration on Wednesday during the ongoing investigative hearing in Abuja.
Gagdi disclosed that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who appeared before the panel for the second time, also confirmed that the documents submitted by Adeyemi were not genuine.
He said, “It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG; it was established.”
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation attended the session in compliance with the committee’s summons after previously being invited to provide her final submission.
Also present at the hearing were Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, representing the Inspector-General of Police.
As of the time this report was filed, Adeyemi had not appeared before the investigative panel.
It would be recalled that the committee, during Monday’s sitting, described the creation and activities of the alleged council as a serious violation and directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi within 48 hours.
