BREAKING: You can’t fight me, Tinubu Dares NLC

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned the recent protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), warning the Labour movement that it is not the only voice of the Labour movement.

He spoke during the Lagos Red Line Train’s commissioning, which connected Agbado and Oyingbo.

The Labour Union protested on Tuesday against the state of hardship in the nation and the federal government’s reluctance to carry out the agreement that the unions and the government had made.

During his remarks, Tinubu took a strong stance against the Labour Union, stating that even with its widely acknowledged freedom and rights, the union cannot oppose an administration that has only been in office for nine months.

This comes just after Tinubu declared that, despite opposition from people he referred to as “smugglers,” his policies would not be reversed.

Additionally, he reaffirmed that corruption was retaliating and declared that the administration would eradicate corruption.

Tinubu pleaded with Nigerians to endure the temporary hardship brought on by removing the fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate.

“There is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel. Nigeria will be out of the economic problem, we just need to persevere and work hard,” the President declared.

However, facing the Labour, he emphasized that the NLC is not the only voice of the people and cautioned Congress to uphold peace.

He said, “Allow me to throw a jab here. The Labour Union should understand that you are not the only one with freedom and rights.

“If you want to participate in the electoral process, meet us in 2027. If not maintain peace. You are not the only voice of Nigeria.”

The President called for increased cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and other states to expand railway infrastructure across the nation, and he added that the commissioning of the Red Line represented the realization of that ambition, which he had fostered 25 years earlier while serving as the state’s governor.
