President Bola Tinubu has been urged by former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar to call his family to order.

Atiku accused Seyi, Tinubu’s son, with being determined to use all means necessary to win the president’s political allegiance.

He was responding to claims of physical assault, kidnapping, and inducement by Seyi made by Atiku Isah, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

Atiku added in a statement released by his media assistant, Paul Ibe, that Isah’s grave accusations of physical assault, kidnapping, and coercion by Seyi Tinubu are extremely concerning and go right to the heart of democratic principles and civil liberties.

Such serious charges against a member of the first family are both unsettling and dangerous, according to the former vice president.

The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must urgently rein in his family members, particularly his son, Seyi Tinubu, who appears determined to purchase political loyalty for his father by any means necessary, including coercion, violence, and intimidation.

“Had this incident ended fatally, it would have been recorded among the growing list of atrocities committed by criminal elements in the country. That it is allegedly tied to the President’s own son makes it even more horrifying.

“What’s worse is the emerging suggestion that even top security officials are not beyond Seyi Tinubu’s overreaching influence — an unacceptable compromise of state institutions.”

Atiku accused that Tinubu’s family was attempting to employ “threats, bribes, or brute force” to enslave NANS or any other civil society organization.

The former vice president called on Nigerians to speak out against Tinubu’s family’s actions.

“We must remind them that the presidency is a public trust, not a private inheritance,” the statement reads, encouraging well-meaning Nigerians to speak up.

He characterized attempts to establish a political connection between him and Isah as desperate, vile, and without merit.
