The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has assumed full responsibility for the construction of a ₦1.1 billion, 250-bed ultramodern hostel project initiated by the Ilorin Central Jumma’at Mosque in Kwara State.

According to the management of the mosque, Dangote has formally pledged to fund the entire project, which is designed to provide student accommodation at the University of Ilorin. Upon completion, the hostel will generate annual rental income from students, with proceeds dedicated to the upkeep and maintenance of the mosque

Speaking at a press briefing in Ilorin on Sunday, the secretary of the mosque’s Board of Trustees, Shehu AbdulGafar, confirmed the development. “The committee has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Ilorin on the project,” he said.

He further explained that the mosque would retain ownership and management of the hostel for 21 years before handing it back to the university.

AbdulGafar also revealed that Dangote had made an additional commitment to support the mosque with a monthly donation of ₦5 million until the project is fully completed. “This monthly donation, which he started last month, will go a long way in ensuring the sustainability of the mosque’s operations while also providing modern accommodation for students of the university,” he noted
