Name-calling has been used by the state government, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Delta State chapter.

It’s possible that the dispute has something to do with the rumours that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

The state government retorted that the APC is merely trying to survive through stupid propaganda, which it is currently doing, in response to the party’s declaration that it is “not a rehabilitation camp for failed politicians” and that it is not interested in political opportunism or party affiliations motivated by personal gain.

According to a statement issued by Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Governor Oborevwori’s term was characterised by poor performance, general dissatisfaction, and an inability to provide the people of Delta State.

The statement stressed that although the APC respects people’s freedom to identify with any political party, it is not concerned about the governor’s possible defection because of his purported lack of noticeable accomplishments since taking office.

Despite receiving more than N50 billion in federal funding each month, the APC accused Governor Oborevwori of wasting Delta State’s resources, even as it acknowledged the governor’s sporadic laudation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s developmental achievements.

“Governor Oborevwori’s tenure has been marred by underperformance, widespread disappointment, and the inability to deliver meaningful development to the people of Delta State. Deltans are disillusioned by the glaring failures of this administration, and we remain steadfast in our mission to bring sustainable development through visionary leadership,” APC said.

However, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza reacted by saying: “The Delta APC is living in crippling fear of him, so we can understand why they have become sleepless and incontinent. They are only hoping to survive through unintelligent propaganda, as they are currently engaged in. Pitifully for them, e no go work.”
