DOGE announces survey of unemployment insurance claims since 2020

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has released results from a preliminary review of unemployment insurance claims filed since 2020.

According to the agency’s report, an estimated 24,500 individuals listed as being older than 115 years received a total of $59 million in benefits.

In an especially surprising discovery, officials identified a claim submitted by someone with a recorded birth year of 2154, who received $41,000.

On Thursday morning, the department posted the following on X:

“24.5k people over 115 years old claimed $59m in benefits.

“28k people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254m in benefits.

“9.7k people with birth dates over 15 years in the future claimed $69m in benefits.

“In one case, someone with a birthday in 2154 claimed $41k.”

Authorities are now treating the investigation into federal fund mismanagement as a top priority, following a pledge by United States President Donald Trump to significantly reduce government spending.

This comes amid reports that DOGE caused a temporary disruption of the Social Security Administration’s online services earlier this week.
