Eid-El-Fitr: Police uncover fresh evil plots in Kano

To cause mayhem during the Eid-el-Fitr season, the Kano State Police Command claims to have discovered some faceless persons hiding behind various Islamic sects.

Muhammad Gumel, the commissioner of police, made this statement on Monday during a meeting with officials from the five emirate councils and Islamic clerics.

He did, however, reassure that law enforcement had moved swiftly to apprehend criminals who were disguising themselves as law-abiding residents to cause trouble before, during, and following the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

He credited the alertness of security services for Kano being the only state where no civilians were being held captive by kidnappers or bandits.

“We have some names that hide under the guise of the Qadiriyya Islamic sect trying to cause disharmony.

“So, we have spoken with the leader of the sect, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara, and he has dissociated himself from them and even given the go-ahead to arrest anyone trying to disrupt peace,” he said.

The commissioner of police also suggested that the intelligence sections of the command had discovered a different group of politicians who were determined to sow discord because they were either dissatisfied with how things were going or had not been appointed.

“I have directed police officers to arrest anybody they find with weapons or trying to create uncertainty among the people,” he added.

Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Bashir Albasu praised the police commissioner for maintaining calm in Kano while speaking on behalf of the Emir of Bichi.

While acknowledging the city’s vulnerability to crime, diverse population, and a steady influx of traders, he also reaffirmed the five emirate councils’ commitment to bolstering security measures for long-term calm.
