Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, has disclosed the musician he considers the greatest of all time.

The SpaceX and Tesla chief executive identified the late German composer Johann Sebastian Bach as his top choice.

Musk likened Bach’s influence and musical brilliance to that of William Shakespeare in literature.

In a post on his X account, Musk wrote, “Johann Sebastian Bach is the Shakespeare of music. Best there ever was.”

Bach, who lived in the 18th century, was a renowned German composer and multi-talented musician. He was also a skilled keyboardist, violinist, organist and music director, leaving behind an extensive collection of works spanning several musical genres.

Among his celebrated compositions are the orchestral Brandenburg Concertos, the Cello Suites and Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. His notable keyboard pieces include the Goldberg Variations and The Well-Tempered Clavier.

His contributions to organ music include the Schübler Chorales and the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, while his acclaimed choral compositions feature the St. Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor.

Bach remains one of the most influential figures in classical music, with his compositions continuing to attract admiration from musicians and audiences around the world.
